She has been feeling it for a while now —that sense of awakening. There is a gentle rage simmering inside of her, and it is getting stronger by the day. She will hold it close to her—nurture it and let it grow. She won’t let anyone take it away from her. It is her rocket fuel and finally she is going places. She can feel it down to her very core —this is her time. She will not only climb mountains she will move them too. It’s important to remember to do what you’ve gotta do to be happy. Never underestimate the importance of your health and happiness and never ever apologize for putting yourself first. Fall in love with taking care of yourself. Fall in love with the deep path of healing. Fall in love with becoming the best version of yourself but with patience, with compassion and respect to your own journey. If you don’t understand how these words relate to poison ivy, you probably don’t see her the same way I do. Like many villains in the dc universe I think we are drawn to them because of how vulnerable with their pain and suffering they actually are. These are characters that didn’t just start out evil. Bad things happened to them and they didn’t get the help they needed when they needed it most. They are broken. And I think of the quote “first I learned that ‘hurt people hurt people’ that I lashed out from the pain inside me I didn’t know what to do with. Then I learned that ‘healed people heal people’ that my own healing drives me to want to heal others and give back” only through caring for each other can we find our own human dignity. I could talk way more about the mental illness journeys of dc villains but I only have so much space.
